Arning Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Permit Specialist to join our team. In this role, you’ll coordinate permit applications, ensure regulatory compliance, and support project teams on a variety of construction projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Application: Identify all necessary permits and licenses required for modular construction and installation projects; complete and submit applications in a timely manner.
- Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, construction, legal, etc.) and external stakeholders (municipalities, permitting agencies, consultants) to gather required documentation and information.
- Monitor Permit Status: Track application progress, proactively resolve any issues or delays, and ensure approvals are received within project timelines.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all permits, licenses, applications, correspondence, and compliance documents.
- Communication: Provide regular updates to project teams on permit status and ensure all stakeholders are informed of critical deadlines or issues.
- Compliance: Stay up to date with changes in permitting regulations and ensure all submittals comply with current local and state requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of local and state permitting and regulatory processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in using permit tracking software, project management tools, and standard office applications (e.g., Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work through permitting challenges and delays.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of relevant experience in construction, building inspection, permitting, or a related regulatory field.
- Familiarity with construction and engineering processes and terminology.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to project sites or permitting agencies as needed.
- Must be able to manage deadlines and occasionally work extended hours to ensure permit deliverables are met.
